Religion is a hermit crab..

Well actually, religion is that first shell... and the people who believe in it are the crabs... it's funny to watch the excuses and justifications build up as religions get things wrong... from intelligent design, to god is testing me, to faith, to god invented evolution, to god put those fossils there...

What makes more sense... I like steak because the genes that caused people to eat more were more likely to support an organism that lived to reproduce... or god knew that there would be a test at the outback steakhouse every tuesday...

How much progress was made in exploration during the window between the enlightened people knew and everyone else accepted it...

People believed that the sun revolved around the earth until...?

How much progress was retarded during the time from Galileo until universal acceptance

A way to solve health care reform, tort reform and defense spending...

Post in progress, but obviously you see where it's going... fundies can pray instead of visiting the emergency room, use faith instead of the legal system, and can pay a religion tax for the portion of the defense budget needed as a result of their beliefs...
